LUMEN

Eco-fashion, innovative design, wearable light.

"We need to rethink how we light our cities and towns. We need to move away from bright, wasteful lighting and adopt more efficient and responsible lighting solutions." - Sue Roaf, Sustainable Architect.

Loss of the Night

Light pollution is a largely overlooked ecological threat with a range of negative impacts on both human and wildlife well-being. Overuse of lighting disrupts ecosystems, wastes energy, impacts human health, and reduces our connection to the natural world.

Wearable Light

Lumen is an innovative LED-powered skirt, designed to use energy-efficient LED lights and a light sensor to automatically adjust brightness based on the ambient light level.

LED - powered, Smartphone Operated

The lighting system is powered by a small rechargeable battery pack, which is located in a discreet pocket in the skirt. The battery pack can be easily replaced when needed. To adjust the lighting in the dark, the skirt has a built-in light sensor that detects the ambient light level. When the sensor detects that it is dark, the LEDs automatically turn on, providing a soft and subtle glow that illuminates the skirt and the surrounding area.

To access the illumination, the skirt has a manual switch that lets the user turn the LEDs on and off, as well as Bluetooth connection to lighting via their mobile device. When the light sensor detects a dark environment, the user will receive a reminder notification on their phone, prompting them to turn on Lumen.
